Does your Magnum RT run hot?
Hello,
I was just wondering if anyones Magnum RT runs kind of hot... Lately I've been noticing that the Car has a lot of heat, to the point I can see the Heat coming off the hood through the shadows the Heat Traces leave, and the distortion that the Heat causes when I'm sitting still at a Light and there is no wind. (you know, like looking down the long desert road in 100+ degree weather and the vision at the bottom of the road is distored, before you see the Water Mirage) I can't remember seeing this with any other car I've had before, and there Heat Wave died down here in Southern California. Also, I noticed the excess Heat this Morning, at about 7:30 am, after only a 15 mile trip to work in traffic. I didn't even have it W.F. O. at all. Let me know if your RT runs hot like that, or I should go take it in, before it bursts into flames...

RT Racer / Stripped Hemi,
OK, if you say so.... And yes, my Temperature Gauge is at 1/2 way between Hot and Cold, which was always normal. But I'm telling you, it felt like I was next to a Bon Fire when I got out of the Car this morning... Never noticed it before, that's all, I guess... I will keep an eye on the Temerature Gauge. And the Computer has not indicated a problem. I was just curious if anyone has seen the Mirage effect, as I thought that was pretty extreme...
Hey, the freaking Magnum has Special Effects along with it's cool looks!!!!
LOL, I was talking to a Grandpa of one of the little girls my Daughter plays with when I went over to pick her up one day... "That thing looks likes it's speeding, just sitting there..."
Pretty cool.... He'd probably Sh** his pants if I took him for a RIDE...

You are right. My temp gauge is fine. But the car does seem to generate more heat that others I've owned. I'm not really concerned about it. Probably just the combination of the V8 and exhaust, etc.
Car makers always have the gauges read normal all the time, far from being accurate. By the time the gauge reads hot, it is too late, something is really wrong.
My RT runs around 210 degrees all the time, sometimes hotter.
Hot engines pollute less.............................

If you'll notice your car has no mechanical fan, only an electric one. At a stop light and until the electric fan kicks in there is no air movement under the hood. This saves gas at the expense of higher temps under the hood.
Via 500,
OK. Still seems extreme to me. Maybe they should have vented the Hood to allow the Heat to escape... Opps...
I was just concerned, because of the Mirage Effect and the Heat felt coming off the car seems too hot. I just don't want this sucker to burst into flames, that's all...
