A friend had one of the cold intake setups with the exposed cone style filter on his Honda 2000. In heavy rain is sucked up enough water that the engine got hydraulic lock and busted out all the pistons and the dealer would not cover the damage under warranty. <( just a tip)
Bottom feeding cold air intakes can do that. The cold air intakes for the Magnum should not have this issue since they're not picking up air from bottom of the spoiler. I have a Donaldson Blackwing on my Vette and there has never been an issue with ingesting water.

The Volant has the lower intake for their CAI. Will that suck in water?

The 'suitcase' muffler is the one in the middle, the ones at the back are the resonators. I took both resonators off mine right away and had custom tail pipes fitted with the OEM tips. Sounds a lot nicer, but still pretty quiet. Shop charged me $50 parts and labor.
Just wanted to correct your information about the mufflers and resonators on the stock Hemi Charger. The "suitcase" is a resonator and the back two are mufflers. The back two are about 25 pounds a piece with a 2.25" intake and a 2.25" exhaust with a 3" chrome tip. Anyway, in the Hemi Charger, the rear two are huge mufflers -- and it is really tough to beat the stock exhaust system for noise when the V8 becomes a V4!
...when the MDS kicks in.

The volant has a large hole in the side of the airbox. The lower intake tube can't develop the suction to pull in water. I always thought that was the purpose of the hole in the side but it kind of defeats any cold air function.

Hi there, I have had cold air intakes on almost all of my previous cars (from my old civic to my tahoe). The noise is a sucking noise but its not loud at all. If anything, it sounds pretty aggressive to say the least. Speaking of CAI, I just noticed www.hpautoworks.com, is now selling the new Injen intake. They are located in Tempe also, so Im gonna stop in and check it out. Ill keep you posted.

Ok guys I'm new here so don't laugh cus I don't have a hemi. I just got an '06 Magnum with the 3.5L HO. Basically I just wanted something to pull a 2 bike motorcycle trailer. I go to Myrtle Beach and Daytona every year. I ride to Myrtle but trailer to Daytona since its about 11.5 hrs from where I live in VA.

To the guys that are talking exhaust, just take the mufler/resonator thats in the middle out and replace with a strait pipe. Leave the one at the back to dampen the sound a bit. I had mine done last week and even though it's just single exhaust it seemed to make a big difference.

The guy only charged $32 and said he had a RT with a hemi that he replaced with the Flow Master or Magna Flow, can't remember which, and the guy was completely dissapointed cus it was too quiet.

So pull the middle muffler out and see how it sounds. You can always put a strait through glass pack in if it's too loud. I don't think paying $800-$1000 is worth what you have to pay for the Flow Master/Magna Flow systems.
