I've just ordered an 06 Magnum RT AWD and have been told it's a 4-6 but probably 8 week process. Noticed on other forums that the wait could be a lot longer (several months) and wanted to see what people on this site have experienced. The idea of waiting until Jan or Feb for the car isn't something I'm looking forward to. Sounded like Dodge didn't build any AWD RTs for awhile, and has only restarted production over the last few weeks. Does anyone know if this is true.

Production of AWD's was halted for a while, I think they are building them again.

Not sure of wait time, I prefer to buy out of dealers stock.

I'm in the same boat. I ordered mine Oct 5 in Connecticut. I wanted to get one right away, but was told they couldn't find one within 300 miles in the color/features I wanted. I too was told 6-8 weeks as an OUTset time frame. However, I was just told today "oh no, I'm sure nobody told you 6-8 weeks. It will be at least 8-12 weeks." nice. I certainly hope that it is worth the wait!!!

 

I'm still being given the 6-8 week time line. Called the 800 number and my VON does not even have a status code assigned. Called the dealer and was told it's being worked and that I should have a build date/schedule some time next week. They are still telling me to expect the car in November, but I don't have a VIN so don't see how that's possible. I'd be happier if they just said backlog of orders will cause the schedule to slip to late December (8-12 weeks). I seem to get more information (via forums like this one) than the dealer most of the time. I figure two weeks to build (minimum) and another two weeks to ship, and another week for misc, so five weeks once the build process starts. It can take weeks (or longer) from the time a VIN is assigned to when the build is actually scheduled, and who knows how log a VON could be in the system before a VIN is assigned.

 

Well I just ordered my new Magnum on Friday afternoon and on Monday I had the VON and the VIN.

I was told it could be as soon as 3-4 weeks. I hope they are right.

Not sure if it would help that the dealership is 30 minutes from the factory.

Hoping we all get them sooner than later.

I got a call today it it should be shipped next week. Wow being local may have advantages.

Well, I was finally able to get a real status code. Called the 800 number and received great customer support from the person on the line. It took several minutes to get the information and they kept apologizing for the delay and tried several times to get a status on my VON. The end result wasn't what I wanted to hear, but it was nice having someone not give up on the first attempt and actually get a valid status. My car is currently in BG status, so while it's passed edit, it's not available for schedule. She wasn't able to determine why it wasn't available, but I'll try and get the dealership to answer that question.

Now that I have a true status, I don't see this car arriving anytime in November, and would guess December is not a done deal. I guess I can hope for a Christmas gift (won't fit under the tree), 2006 Magnum R/T AWD with a red bow, in the driveway.

Based on what everyone else have seen, I don't know how to guess at time from order to schedule to build to delivery. If the dealer gives me the same story about the total process being 4-8 weeks I'm going to scream.

 

yup...I got the same 'BG' from the dealer who has changed from 6-8 weeks to 8-12 weeks. unfortunately it's only been 3-1/2 weeks! looks like I'm gonna have to be patient! (not one of my strong points!)
