Default Dealer Service Support

Just picked up my car from the dealer after service, Mobil 1 oil requested, 0W-30 weight. 13,600 miles on it now. When I took it in I said to the service writer " please check on any TSB work that needs to be done ref A/C water leak into the trans and also a rough idle concern. Couple of cosmetic situations with the tailgate involving a clip worth about 25 cents and a piece of weather strip. In general thats pretty good for a new car, probably jinxed the thing by saying that.
When I picked up the car I asked if the TSB work was done, quote from service writer "No Dodge TSB's on idle miss or water leaking into the trans" Also I was told "we put in 0W-40 because DC tells them that the check engine light will come on if i use 0W - 30, someones trying to blow smoke at me as far as I can tell, they probably dont stock 0W - 30 oil.
Does anyone know if there is somewhere on the web that we can go and check actual DaimleyChrysler TSB files?
Is it just me having service support problems with my dealer or do they all mostly suck? Maybe DaimlerChrysler are stingy in paying warranty? [:@]

I don't know about the TSB, but I never heard of 0 weight oil. My manual says use 5W 20 in my R/T and that's what I put in. Sounds like they are giving you a load of you know what. There has to be a web site listing all the TSBs though.

I cant see how the oil viscosity can initiate the 'check engine' lite. If that was the case, when your engine is cold started afer overnite or thinned by heat like in summer traffic, wouldnt the lite also come on?

Id print out any TSBs I can locate and give them to the dealer next time in case he cant find any. Sounds like your dealer is giving you a BS runnaround to me.

5W-20 oil is critical in any multiple displacement engine, which in this case the only mds engine is the 5.7 liter. As for the tsb's, the dealer is not allowed to perform the repair on every vehicle, only the ones with the problem present. For instance, if there is a tsb on water in the trans, they cannot make a repair unless water is present. If chrysler wants the repair made regardless, they issue a recall and notify the owner.

So, I guess DaimlerChrysler is happy to let its customers live with known problems. They probably hope that the car will get beyond warranty and then we will get stuck with the bill.
Interesting comments about the oil. As a DC dealer put in the 0-40 i guess i will be in the middle of an arguement between DC and the dealer if this engine blows??

The tranny problem is a relativly simple DIY fix, just so you can avoid future problems. Not sure of the pipe diamuter(tube for the non-existant dip stick) but you can probably just grab a dipstick from another dodge(I would take the metal wand part off) and stick it there, or use a rubber cork. If you have tranny problems and they are fixed chances are that trans will never be the same.

Incorrect oil will generally only have an effect over time. My recomendation is to buy your own oil and bring that in for them, the problem is that it is not unheard of when it comes to service techs stealing synthetic and giving you regular dino, whatever they have on hand.
