AWD Magnum grinding sound when turning right and accellerating
Good morning everyone.
Problem:
I have a 2006 Dodge Magnum AWD 5.7 that makes a grinding sound from the front drivers wheel area only when accelerating and turning right. Driving straight and turning left make no noise. If I stomp on the gas at a green light, it will also grind. Turning right at a stop sign or light and accelerating will make the grinding sound. Gentle left/right turns on the highway do not make the grinding sound.
Troubleshooting:
I have replaced the drivers side wheel hub assembly, front left and right CV axles, intermediate shaft, front differential, forward driveshaft and drivers side lower control arm, but the grinding sound is still there. I'm going to replace the upper control arm next, as the boot is torn and needs to eventually be replaced. (Everything needed to be replaced or was covered under AutoZone's lifetime warranty, except for the front driveshaft. That one hurt.)
I have examined the wheel area for signs of rubbing, but I don't see any. None of the metal heat shield flaps appear to be rubbing. Turning the wheel all the way to the right and spinning it shows that nothing is touching.
I've taken the brakes off and closely examined them for signs of not-normal wear, but they look fine (and are relatively new). I don't see any debris stuck anywhere. Using the brakes doesn't make any sound.
I'm at a complete loss. I've been trying to figure this one out for several months now. I'm not driving it with this sound because I'm afraid of making whatever it is worse. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

When you put a load on the left side, it grinds..... That still sounds a LOT like a bad hub/bearing unit.......
Is the wheel rubbing on the caliper by any chance? Will it do it at VERY low speeds? If so, I would have someone walk beside the car, and see if they can tell where it is coming from.

Nope, still does it. But it only happens at like 90% acceleration, so I just take it easy. It rarely grinds now just because of the way I drive it. But nothing has fallen off or anything. It still bugs me but 3 different mechanics haven't been able to figure it out. Good luck.
But no. Not fixed, and no closer to a solution. I mean, what's the point of a hemi if you can't floor it?

I just recently started having this same issue. I've replaced the wheel bearing and front cv axlee. Replacing those hasn't seemed to have changed the sound any. I've discovered that it makes the same sound when turning the wheel to the right completely and power braking.
