Question Advice on mileage for a used Magnum purchase

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I used to own an '05 SXT, had about 230k miles when someone T-boned me and totaled it. It still ran great, just had some minor annoyances (like the dash warping that seems pretty common). I replaced it with a challenger RT, but I still really miss my old car.

I'm casually shopping around for an SRT8 Magnum, and see a huge range of mileage on the ones for sale. Is my own experience common? I would not be nervous owning a car that I put 150k miles on it, but I am nervous buying one with that much history. I've only bought low mileage used car before, are there items I should be asking about when I contact sellers? I would ask the seller to let me hire a local mechanic to check it over first, in any case.

Thanks for any advice

Considering they stopped producing these in 2008, you are going to be hard pressed to find a low mileage one. And, yes, it is always a good idea to have a used vehicle checked before purchase.

Just bought my 05 last week with 232k on it. Just be sure it's been maintained and be ready to give it a good checkover!

Thanks for the encouragement for getting me to pull the trigger!

I'm making a list of items that need replaced to bring it back to great condition. I'm no mechanic, but I've been going to a trusted one for years. Started with a fresh oil change and thorough inspection to verify condition. We replaced the sparkplugs (expected) and front rotors / pads (also expected, though rotors were worse than I thought). The rotors were seriously worn down! The rears are also, but nowhere near as bad, and they'll be replaced at my next oil change. It also needs new shocks (also expected), probably will get that done at the same time. That looks like it for mechanical problems!

I've got a strange electrical problem (not expected) with it that is annoying, and hopefully isn't too terrible to fix. The windshield wipers don't always respond to the delayed setting, either don't run at all or they run non-stop. Also, the passenger windows don't always respond to buttons or roll up at full speed. Perhaps this is all tied to one issue. Has anyone else ever had something like this? Had no electrical problems on previous cars.

It's incredibly comfortable - great upgrade over my '05 SXT. I'd forgotten how nice it is driving without those giant blindspots in my challenger! Planning to replace (and save) stock exhaust with Borla, leaning towards S-Type rather than ATAK. I haven't heard side by side in real life, but the ATAK just seems to have more... crackle... than I like. Almost like a Harley with fishtail exhaust. I like that sound on a bike, just not on a car. I'll probably get a CAI as well. Is there much difference between brands?

Unicorn. One year only front end and hood and interior change in last year of production.
