2005 Magnum RT 5.7
I figured I would ask before I go out and spend more money. A short history , vehicle was driving sluggish . hang on. Small performance up grades. cold air in take ,outside of the hood , under front bumper. Shorty headers ,3 inch pipe cat back ( I think the are 3 inches bought the car with cat back piping. Okay back to issue , Magnum was driving fine noticed small sluggishness ,cleaned throttle and she did a little better . That was a year or less ago ,today the magnum hard start .Not just long crank she will crank and wants to start but just cuts out right in the middle of starting. After several start attempts she might start. If she starts we can drive but it's risky. before we leave the drive it might just cut off ,no coughing no bucking . Just boom shuts down. this shut down happens at stop lights ,when I step in her throat it bucks and shuts off or goes off and on spitting and sputtering . Long story short driving is scary uncertain. Also some times after shutting down while at a stop light ,if she starts right up it won't go into drive or reverse . I would have to shut it off and restart and then it goes in gear. Now the fixes....
new battery
new throttle body
new crank sensor
new accelerator pedal
new fuel pump with secondary sending unit
new alternator
My last effort is ECM . Has anyone ever had this issue ? What was your fix ? If it was ECM who did you use to fix it ? Any leads and or information will help. About 160k miles.

I've had my magnum since 2005 and similar situation. It's one of 2 things, the anti-theft security got triggered which can allow you to start car but will stall mind would happen mid way turning left and pretty scary when in a huge busy intersection. I had to get my system reset or re-keyed at a dealership and luckily there happened to be a technician that knew about this problem or may have been screwed!?? Next thing I did similar was removed the manifold changed plugs, wires, ect. Make sure you get OEM plugs the old school copper ones not dbl platinum stuff and ultimately car would not start after trouble shooting for weeks had to take out the ecm as it is crucial you have the original (Dodge doesn't make these anymore) and I had to send it to a company in Miami that fixed it and they send it back to you. (Even if you think you checked the connection already with ecm when using a volt meter it looked like it was ok, but it was pulsing different or something like that) Anyway I'm no mechanic but that was 💯 the problem and car is running fine since and that was 3 years ago. It only cost like $250 to have the ecm rebuilt, fixed and they send it back.
I do not recall the name of company off hand but if you do read this and want to give them a call respond back and I will look through my records and get you the name and number of business. It is located in Miami. FL I know that much for sure.
Save yourself the message and money of changing every sensor, ect it was the ecm and the guy in Miami would explain better what is going on, all I know is he was 100 correct after numerous qualified mechanics including Dodge technician did not know what was going on.
I'm only writing this because I know the feeling as it happened to me!
Brad.

Plugs are fine. I used what the car called for. Its been a few months since i changed them. But when she is running, it doesn't miss a beat. Its as if the car is off its meds and she acts up
I bought the car from a co worker 5 or 6 years ago. And she has treated me well. And she is slowly creeping in2 a modern classic. So i will definitely take that information. The stall is random, but u know it's going to happen. When and where,i know not. At least the charging system is A1 now.

It's been a great car to me drove it off the lot with 4 miles on it in 2005. Now have only 149k. Cold air intake, stage 2 chip, cat back Borla exhaust and still runs good. My only concern is I have never changed the transmission fluid and afraid to at this point that it may end up messing something up causing a problem when technically I don't have a problem yet. I did order an aftermarket dip stick to check the transmission fluid tho. We now both have classic cars! 20 years makes it a classic, 10 more we'll have antiques..lol
The truck I drive now qualifies.
