Do RT's have a 4,000 rpm limit?
Hello,
Finally some 60 degree weather here in NW Pa. yippi !!!
For the first time I finally started to have some fun with the car & I noticed that I can't rev the engine higher than 4k rpm regardless of how far down I press the pedal.
During that time there are no signs of missing, rough idle, etc...I just can't get it anywhere near "red-line".
ESP on or off, doesn't make a difference.
Is there some kind of limiter involved.
Thanks!

40 in 1st Gear
70 in 2nd Gear
113 in 3rd Gear
My '05 RT has done this since Mile 6... (on the way home from the dealer)
DC couldn't find tires to allow me to see what 4th Gear does...
Nice smooth computer controlled Auto Shut down at 127 MPH...
However, I have heard that the SRT-8 Models have the speed limiter removed, but the engine rev limiter stops it 172 MPH. 172 MPH!!!

RE: Do RT's have a 4,000 rpm limit?
Sorry I wasn't clear...
I can easily get past 4k rpm while driving with no problems.
I failed to say while the car is in neutral or park
For example...try to rev and hold the engine past 4k at a stop-light next time.
Thanks!

<<<<Why on earth would you want to rev your engine that high while standing still?
Too easy to spin a bearing doing that.
Bob >>>>
I found myself sitting at a red-light next to a 80's tub-surround(corvette), we were both throttling our engines in neutral when I noticed my RT wouldn't pass 4k rpm.
That's when I thought maybe there was something wrong.
I keep compairing it to my 440 Fish, which has no electronic B.S.
Glad to hear it wasn't just my car....the "safety feature" must be working properly.
I'm still learning about all the quirks of these computer controlled performance engines....lol
Thanks everyone!
