Default hot wire needed

I need to find a hot wire somewhere under the dash. I run the wire for my radar detecter down to the area just above the brake pedal. The fuse box is under the hood. Is there a hot wire that is easy to get to under the dash.

the cigatette lighter works fine. You can also tap into a hot wire from the over head console. Keep ya from running the wire as far.

thanks Jaime 340 and Grinner for your help. The V1 wire goes into a wiring kit first, then into a hot wire, so the lighter hot wire will be it. I'm not sure how to get to the lighter wire but I will work on that. Thanks again. BJsHemi aka Bobby

Are you in VA (or a state where detectors are illegal)? You may want to consider a 12VDC feed from the plug-in in the console compartment. This would allow you to move the [illegal] detector into the console compartment and out of sight if you didn't "detect" in time.
Certainly, I'm not advocating breaking laws (including travelling at speeds in excess of the posted speed limits), but if you were to do something like that...you wouldn't want to get caught with a radar detector in states where those dastardly things are illegal!
Besides, who speeds in a station wagon!? :-)
