I see that you live in the Boston area, you will need the AWD. Otherwise I would say don't get the AWD, if you lived in Florida - like I do.

Enjoy the ride,

Bob

Check for vibration on the chassis while turning at parking lot speeds, indicates the transfer case has water, newer transfer cases have the vent hose protected. I had to get a new transfer case, there is a TSP on that.

You CANNOT break the tires loose like the rear drive guys can, this is probably my only disppointment.

I get 17 MPG on my 33 mile each way commute, secondary roads, several small villages, 1 town on the route. Lots of trucks to pass on some days.

My favorite car to date, and I have had BMW, Mercedes, and Volvo. I have 28,000 miles on mine after 15 months, no major issues other than the transfer case.

Yes, the AWD and the wieght (4400 lbs) has to be moved I guess. Also, on my commute there is little opportunity to "cruise" under low load, it being fairly hilly, only 2 lanes, truck traffic, towns and villages to slow down for. So, lots of slowing down and speeding up. If I concentrate and really baby it, I get 18 MPG, but that 1 MPG just is not worth it.
