Another 2005 Magnum "scratch-n-dent"
Hello everyone. My name is Buzz and I'm a Magna-holic. I read another post about someone buying basically a "scratch-n-dent" 05 Magnum and wanted to post my story as well.
About 6 weeks ago, I bought a 2005 Magnum SXT used with 471 miles on it. It had a disclosure from Chrysler stating that they had performed paintless dent repair on the pass front door and it specifically stated "no body panels replaced". There was still a little ding there, and I noticed the rocker panel seriously scarred up underneath. The hood also didn't fit quite right. Unfortunately, this was at dusk, so I missed the dent on the roof (which I now figure was the exhaust of the car above it on the hauler). I'm not a body guy, but I have been told about a couple things to look for. I checked the bolts on the front fenders to look for paint scrapes where they may have been removed. The bolts looked like they had never been touched. Same with the nose piece. Crawled under the sides and rear, and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.
BEFORE I bought the car, I ran a Carfax that showed no problems. I also ran the VIN with Chrysler and it came up with no bad records (just warranty info). And then I also had the Texas Dept of Motor Vehicles run the VIN, and they had no records of problems either. After these three checks, I decided to buy it, along with a 7yr/100K "bumper to bumper" warranty (please tell me the warranty is worth something!) for about $17,500.
I went to get the oil changed and they mentioned that it didn't have any of the stickers under the hood....emissions, belt routing, etc. They said these were usually put on at the dealership when the car arrives new.
So, based on all this, did I make a good deal or did I buy a POS?
It has run fine until today (I've put about 1100 miles on it). Going down the road two lights came on. One was a "lightning bolt" looking light on the tach side. The other said BAS inside the temp gauge. I pulled over, turned the car off, turned it back on, and all seemed well. Somehow, though, I don't think that is the end of whatever happened.

"It had a disclosure from Chrysler stating that they had performed paintless dent repair on the pass front door and it specifically stated 'no body panels replaced'".
Is there a requirement for Chrysler (or the dealer) to disclose damage and subsequent repair to a new vehicle when it is sold?
