Default Too much air???

Is it possible to get too much air to intake? Today was the first day I have drove on the highway after installing my new hood. Under heavy accelleration it has a real deep tone. It seemed to lack the power it had before.

you can never have too much fresh air. i can't hear anything with my set-up unless i open the hood. then i can hear it sucking air. i don't know what airbox and filter you are using, but most systems use too small of a filter. the bigger the filter the better. my filter is 9" long with a 6" diameter feeding a 4" inlet tube.

maybe try pulling fuse #11 for a minute to clear the computer and let it learn your new mod over the next few days.

I'm no expert in these matters but it looked like you made you own intake system? Did it run okay with your after market system before you got the hood?

I have a K&N intake system. I painted the tube just for looks. I didn't want all the black. Yes the car ran really good before I intalled the hood. My tub is 3 1/2 inches inside the tube. When I take off from a light it has alot of power. When I intered the highway from the ramp it had a loud grawl to it, but it didn't seem to have the get up it had before. Magmania' did you leave you bottom hole open or did you go with the set up like 65Standard? Is the fuse box under the hood or inside the car. I can't bend much due to five back surgeries.

So far to this day I have left my bottom factory inlet open. One of these days I may plug it.

When i installed the intake I lifted the negative battery terminal so this reset my computer to relearn my new mod.

Since that time I have sealed off around the top of my intake (to keep as much engine heat out as possible) and I am thinking maybe I should pull the #11 fuse as 65standard suggested to you. As far as the location of the fuse ...I have yet to check into it. I'm sure the manual can tell us where it is. I know there is a fuse box under the hood but I have'nt looked at it yet.

Thanks for the reply. I found my fuse box. There are actually two. One under the hood and one in the back by the battery. I disconnected my battery for about fifteen minutes, then re-connected. I also pulled the #11 fuse as 65Standard suggested. I got to tell you what happend, you will crack up. First of all my wife is not happy I'm doing all of this to a new car. Also having several back surgeries, she nags all the time, "You shouldn't be messing with the car with your bad back". Anyway after I pulled my cable off the battery, I easily closed the back hatch, didn't want the wife to catch me out there again. The only problem was after waiting fifteen minutes I went to open the back hatch. It would not open because I had no power. Some how the back completely closed. I said to myself, how the heck I'm I going to get that thing open with out the wife catching me. I had to put the back seats down and crawl into the car to pull the two covers out to get to the battery. Then crawl a little further to connect the battery, crawl out and lift the back gate to fix every thing so I wouldn't get in trouble with the wife. They just don't understand what cars mean to us guys!

fuse #11 is located under the hood. i don't remember what color it is. i would check, but my car is in the shop right now. by pulling fuse #11, it will reset the computer with out loosing you radio stations like a battery disconnect. don't forget to reset you radio, auto windows and steering for the ESP/BAS after a battery disconnect.

Didn't know about resetting auto windows. How do I do that? Thanks for your help, you are full of information! Now how about the excessive heat under the hood. Would it reduce the stabiliy of the hood if someone cut a vent hole in the bridge you see when your behind the wheel. When looking out the front window I see a support bridge for the hood. When I lift the hood it appears I could cut a hole say 2" high and maybe 6-8" long, on both sides of the support , then screen it on both sides. Would that make the hood weaker in the back? Would it release some of that heat. Will the heat mess up the fiberglass hood?

push and hold the window button down until the window is all the way down and continue to hold the button for another second or two until you hear a click. do the same thing when going up with the window. same process for the other window too.

as far as a heat extractor like your thinking about, it will help with the under hood temp. i have already done this mod to my hood. check it out.

It's hard to tell from the photos because your hood is dark. Did you cut into the hood support to make your vent? Does it weaken the hood support by cutting it. Never mind, After blowing up your picture I see how you did it, thanks.
