Default Newbie with exhaust question.....

I read some of the posts about the different exhaust mods that y'all done on the r/t's and was wondering if just replacing the suitcase muffler with glass packs would be a good idea. I would like to keep the stock resonators on the car as well. In the future, I would like to buy a cat back system, but that'll have to wait. The Mag is fast enough for me right now, but I'd like to improve the sound of the car with out having to buy a complete system. Any suggestions ?

All stock right now.

This is not exactly your question, but I cut off the rear resonators and put on some Blastin' Bob (E-BAY) pipes with 4' chrome tips. Took less than an hour, cost $129. Really sounds quite excellent, about twice as lound as stock on full throttle and very quiet at speed. No "drone" that I can hear. Coolest is when slowing to a stop, downshifting into 2d, then first to get a burble burble burble that really gets attention. Best $129 I've spent on the Magnum.

I've been wanting to record the sound before I mentioned this, guess I'll have to get it done now.

My 2 cents....

Thanks......

I saw your other post as well. I'll have to look into those. Did you just clamp those pipes on or weld them?

I just clamped mine, all the hardware is included, the hangers welded in the proper place. The directions recommended a spot weld, but they were pushed over the existing pipe so far and clamped so tight that I thought that was not needed. That, plus I was not 100% sure $129 would get me what I wanted so leaving them unwelded left me the option to go back if it was too loud. I'm very happy with them so far.
