im going to buy a used magnum or charger? which should i go with? i love the uniqueness of the magnum but the charger seems like it might be more fun to drive since its faster, smaller, and gets slightly better mileage. what made you guys go with the magnum?

 

i dont own either but im going to get a magnum but ive been researching the magnum since it was at the ny auto show back in 2002 and i think its a bad *** car....i love the sleeper wagon...but correct me if im wrong i think there the exact same thing just the charger is a 4 door and the magnum is a 5 door..im guessing the magnum could be a little bit heavier..but i still love the magnum..i dont think the charger looks as good as the magnum...i seen the charger at the ny auto ahow about 2 years ago and it didnt really do anything for my just my opinon.....and over here in nj u dont see many magnums i see a **** load of chargers but not alot af magnums....plus its your own taste what u like better not what everyone else thinks....but anyway good luck buddy

like i said before i love the magnum...im always checking the dealers and papers my problem is i need to get rid of a lifted 04 gmc sierra first becuase they wanted to screw me on a trade in so as soon as that happens ill be getting one..i was going to get one back when they first came out but i wanted to wait for them to work the bugs out..the biggest thing that turned me off was that4/8 clyinder deal i know its good to have but when they first came out with it i was a little scared to buy a dodge...i had a 03 dodge pickup and it was in the shop for work more then i drove it then i got pissed and traded it in and said screw dodge..but know i want the magnum again...i almost got one back in nov i was hopeing on my truck and 3 grand plus tax was the most they told me to take the lift out of my truck put it back to stock and give us 6k plus tax and we'll have a deal i said screw you..then the end of dec about 5 weeks later they call me and said you still want the magnum ill give it to you for 3 grand and your truck..i said to late i already bought a bike with the 3k+ i saved to put down....

 

The Magnum isn't any bigger than the Charger. I HAD an 06 Charger SXT, and traded it for a Magnum. I tend to haul stuff so I wanted the extra room. No matter what you do though, in my opinion get at least a 3.5 v6. (Comes standard in the Charger) The 2.7 is worthless and has a spotty reliability record, at least when it was in the Intrepid.

 

I just checked dodge.com and the Charger is actually 2.4 inches LONGER and .3 inches WIDER than the Magnum. The Charger is less that 100 pounds lighter, so it can't be a whole lot faster, all else being equal (I compared only at RT RWD models).

I just liked the looks of the Magnum. When I bought, the Charger was not out yet, but I still would have bought the Magnum, being a station wagon fan and wanting the AWD.

That said, if I could justify it, I would have a Charger for my daily driver and a Magnum for the weekends and winter.....Whoo Hoo.

 

Flat Eric i feel the same as you. I love the wagon thing and the charger is cool but i have 4 door cars and dont need another on and the charger is not that much faster. Its the driver trust me on that one.

 

Im the same way. The differences are so slight, its not worth discussion. If you want just another 4 door sedan, go with Charger. For more unique I like the wagon and it hauls a lot more crap. Ive even carried refrigerators in mine. Reliability and performance are the same.....all built on identical chassis with same mechanicals.

 

The Magnum had the look I wanted. Better than all the SUV lookalikes.
If you really want to burh gas and tires get the SRT8
