Ask a Dodge salesman thread...
Hi, all. My name's Matt, and I'm a Dodge Sales Consultant at Ertley Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler in Moosic, Pa. I'd like to lend my services to everyone if they have any questions about current 2006 or future Dodge models. I'll do my best to answer any questions that you all may have. I'm new to this forum, but not new to Dodge cars or car message boards. I'm a Volkswagen guy, actually. Anyway, fire away!

RE: Ask a Dodge salesman thread...
Welcome to the forum Matt. I have heard rumors the Magnum may not be made after 2007. Is this true or just a rumor. Is there any plans for other past Mopar Muslce cars, like the Cuda or Roadrunner? With the rising gas prices, do you think the muscle car trend will be a short lived production program? I have heard the 426 Hemi is hard to find and has a long waiting list as the demand is so high because of the return of the Hemi craze.

Well, since Matt is nowhere to be seen - I will answer the best I can.
I don't expect to see the Magnum dissapear.
The Magnum, Charger, and Chrysler 300 are all built on an LX Chassis.
The Challenger will be built on a LY chassis.
So, seeing how they won't be sharing a sub-frame, I wouldn't expect them to cancel one for the other.
Reports I have seen show the Challenger being between 36-42k
I can look into the crate engines available now... I will PM you if I come up with anything.
I dont know if more 'heritage' cars are comming down the pipe or not.
But I don't think fuel costs are going to have a huge part of it... after all even the powerful Charger is available with a fuel efficient V-6.
I have no idea what the dimensions are of a 3.5L muffler.

RE: Ask a Dodge salesman thread...
Sorry guys, busy at work as of late. To answer a few questions that weren't fielded above...
No words on if the Barracuda or Roadrunner are coming back. I'm going to say that Dodge will run the Charger into the market and see if the demand is still high for the 'original' muscle car type of vehicle. Doesn't look good for an '07 release, but '08 is very promising. I can honestly say that Dodge isn't phased by the rising price of gasoline. The hemi is probably our best selling engine, especially in my market area where we see lots of snow and mud. So it goes to figure, if they'll continue to put the hemi into SUVs, and manufactuer it, they'll continue stuffing it into the vehicles everyone loves to drive.
I'll try to keep up on all of this, guys. You guys seem to have a lot more questions than the Caliber guys.

So how much does the dealer actually pay for a magnum RT from the MFG?
So how much does the dealer actually pay for a magnum RT from the MFG?
A 2006 Magnum RT that has an MSRP of $34,075
has a dealer invoice of $31,938.
Then the dealer also get's what is called "holdback" which is approx 3% of invoice - on this vehicle it would be $1,002.
Plus the dealer gets "floorplan assistance" which is a flat $290 reguardless of package or options.
So actual dealer cost is $30,646.
Most dealers in this area sell for invoice - less all but about 300-600 of invoice.
I have never seen a dealer give away the floorplan assistance.
