Default Stock car Alarm question

I just got my Magnum SXT about 3 weeks ago.

Do any of you have the dealer installed car alarm? The brand installed on my car is KARRs I believe. I'm not sure if all Dodges use the same alarm.

Does it come with a shock sensor? I was looking at the manual and it lists is as optional. For what it costs, I can't believe it isn't standard.

I give my car a good thump on the windshield near the pillar or the door and the alarm doesn't go off. I was thinking the shock sensor might need adjusting but after reading the manual now I question whether it even has a shock sensor.

Have any of you ever had to adjust it? Where is it located?

If it doesn't have the shock sensor... man do I regret not getting an aftermarket alarm installed. The dealer charges more that double what an aftermarket alarm with more options has.

The only good thing is that it works with the same key remote.

Thanks for any feedback.

Sorry I cant help you, I always get everything done aftermarket, that includes the paint and fabric protection, and undercoat. The only thing I have done is the oilchanges, as it is part of the extended warranty I bought. You will always pay more for anything you get done at the dealer. I would just contact your salesperson, and get the info from them. Maybe do a little bitching, maybe you will at least get a discount on it.

I have an 06 Magnum, with the factory alarm system. I do not believe it has a shock sensor. The alarm works for example, you use the remote to lock your car. If the door was opened by breaking window and lifting up the manual door look, the alarm will go off. If they were to use one of those slimjim tools to pop the door lock from the outside the alarm will go off. If you remote lock your car and someone still inside the car uses the power door lock to unlock the door, and opens the door, the alarm will go off.The only other security system on the car is the coded key. The car will not start with a copied key. You should have a key code number so if you needed another key, it would have to be ordered. I put wheel locks on my car because the alarm will not go off if the car is jacked up. Depending on how unsecure your area is, you may want to look at an after market alarm. If the dealer has the shock alarm system, they will charge far more then an after market dealer. I had a Code Alarm system put in my 05 Frontier. The other forum members may know more about the factor alarm with shock senser.

yea, I'm pretty sure they don't have a motion sensor, 'cause my wheels just got jacked right in my driveway. Anyone know if you can add an after market sensor to the stock system?('[:@]')

Got it figured out. get an after market shock sensor for about $30, and insert it in one of the door pin lines. When it triggers, it will tell the brain that a door is ajar, thus, sounding the alarm. Just did this today, works great.
