Amsoil and Mobil 1 use different formulas, never used Royal Pruple myself. I've used both Amsoil and Mobil 1 and found virtually no difference in performance. There IS a difference in price, though. Amsoil is marketed thru home based vendors much like Amway and costs more than Mobil 1. I know, I'm a FORMER Amsoil dealer. Save your $$ and get the same performance with Mobil 1.

thanks for that info Dusty! Does anyone know if there is a difference when you start using synthetic? I know if the vehicle is old not to or the seals will start to leak, but should you start at first oil change or a certain amount of miles?

I changed to Mobil 1 at 300 miles. Drain pan had some minor metal shavings.

Royal Purple is great 12,000 between changes. 6k between filters. You can get a 20 qt jug for around $100. Use NAPA gold filters for this oil. I use 10w 30 in summer 5w 20 in winter.
