Stupid ESP!!
Wow. I'm thinking about buying a SRT8 Magnum, so I searched for a Magnum forum and found this site. This is the first thread I read.
Sorry, I know I'm new here, but I'm no n00b with cars or the Internet. Dakota- you are wrong and you do not know what you are talking about. You remind me of these bible thumping people in Virginia who think they know how to run my life better than I do; that's why I'm moving to the northern California mountains after my son graduates from high school this year. Who cares even if FamilyWagon does want to do a burnout all the way down the street? IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESSSSSS!!!11!!!!!1!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!!!!!!!! FW asked a simple question; he didn't ask for anybody's commentary on his lifestyle or life's decisions- sounds to me like he has that part covered.
FamilyWagon- I know exactly where you are coming from and I agree with you 100%.

OK with the switch off, I'm still not able to get the thing loose. I don't see the "squiggly" lighting up either. I'm telling myself it a heavy car. Tried the same maneuver in my x-fire SRT and got it totally sideways. (That switch stays on now.) Maybe I'll try the #17 fuse thing on the Magnum.
So far as the ongoing argument goes. There is something to be said about exploring the limits of a car in a safe manner. If you don;t know where the limits are, then how can you stay within them? On the other hand, flooring the car on ice and having it roll away from a stop under control is also way cool!
Twenty-eight year of driving and no chargeable accidents - rear-ended once. Saw the judge plenty of times.
Regards,

Regards,

I drove stock cars for many years for fun. I know where family is coming from. I know my limits and I can control my car better than a computer tells my car to do for the way I want to drive. All these controls are mandated now because 1/2 of the driving public is inept at the task. I also hate (putting it mildly) ABS. Ive not had any accidents in 40 years of driving that was my fault (ie guy pulling out from a gas station into the side of me). Any near or close calls Ive ever had was in cars equipped with ABS (all-bout-stupid). I know how to stop or steer under control by myself. The switch on the dash should be like the air bag switch in pickups...able to disconnect it completely....not just cut off a percentage. For old ladies and other who dont know how to drive, let them leave it turned on. I had no trouble keeping control of a 4500 pnd 70s full size sedan on the track. Nascar guys seem to do well enough without either. In the Grand American cup, the Ford Mustangs and others are very dominant until their ABS equipped racing brakes fail (not brake failure, ABS system failure).
Just keep in mind, these cars use an OPEN differential. The CAB/ABS/ESP function as a limited slip by applying brake to the spinning wheel in an effort to equalize rear wheel speed. If it's completely disabled, you might be in for a one wheel wonder instead of a nice pair of strips.
Not questioning you Monz, but I have Flashpaq, and it pretty much removes the torque management (esp?). I lay 2 even black strips anyhow. I was under the impression that these cars do have a posi / limited slip rear end anyway regardless of what braking system does. Any DC techs here actually KNOW ?
