RE: SRT8 Engine problem ??????
Glad you mention this. Only happened to me a couple times in the year I have had the car (06 Dodge Magnum R/T).
Didn't really think anything of it. I use Mobil One Oil And I still change oil every 3,000 miles, so I figured Shouldn't be a problem. Anyone has any insight to this Please let me know.

OK, I don't know everything.... Far from it! But is so called "Lifter Clacking" equal to a 'Hard / Rough Start', kind of sounds like almost grinding in the engine? If so, I have heard it, but only on the 2nd start up attempt. If I just bump the Key without holding it for a second and it doesn't turn over, I will get a 'Grinding' sound on the 2nd Start Up. So, needless to say, I am very careful on being sure it turns over the 1st time from now on! I figure it is because the Oil has cycled out of the Cylinders by turning over slightly, but not enough and the 2nd Start was on a Dry Cylinder Wall. Just my guess...
Is this what you guys are experiencing? Please let me know!

Thanks for the reply.......As for my problem.....It does indeed sound as if the oil has drained out of a "Lifter" seeing that I only experience it when the car has not been used for an extended period of time such as over night etc.... Also, mine will happen mostly on the 1st attempt and it isn't a "grinding" sensation such as yours..As I said I even have tried just turning on the electrical system for a few seconds prior to firing it up and it still went 'clack clack...vaaaaaroooom"
As usual and like a "Toothache" it hasn't happened again since I spoke with my Service Dept. and I had them contact the proper authorities and document my problem in case it should return...
It should be noted at this time they advised me that it appears the only similar problem is with the 05's and not the 06 SRT-8's "Nationally" .. I suggest that similar problems be reported to your Service Dept's in case of extended problems down the road...
Sincerely...
