Default Auto/Stick Pointers Please

OK. So I have this Auto/Stick capability. I have experience driving a standard and am familiar with the concept of down-shifting. Can anyone point to an FAQ about how to use the stick on my R/T? It seems that I have to be doing the speed of light if I want to get out of 2'nd.

I'm not sure there's any new 'trick' to it.. I have a vette 6 spd.. When I want the extra control of shifting in my Mag RT I think Vette! I just wind it out and slap the stick..

Thing that annoys me is that I am always accidently shifting it out of drive because I have a habit of resting my hand on the shifter.

Hmmm,
Well, the Computer adjusts Automatically to your driving habits, so if it doesn't shift into 3rd until 70 MPH, maybe that's how you drive it more often than not... That's the case with mine. About downshifting... You should be around 85 to 80 MPH before downshifting to 3rd, 50 to 45 MPH before downshifting to 2nd and about 30 to 25 MPH before downshifting to 1st... Those are my driving habits... Besides that, I love the Autostick feature. I always take my foot off the gas first, then downshift if necessary to slow down. I have 46,000 miles on the car and am not even half way through my Brake Pads. I should get somewhere between 80,000 and 100,000 miles out of the stock Brake Pads! Amazing! I have had my Brakes checked on a regular basis. Both times the guys are pissed for me having them checked. "Are you some kind of Joker?" I am told. "These Brakes are barely worn!" "Don't bring it in again for Brakes until 90,000 miles"

That's funny! They are upset because they can't sell you a set a some outrages price. I have been using my auto stick as well after reading an earlier thread about autostick usage. MagnumR/T do you have the SuperTuner installed in your car. My car does not and it will rev in first but shifts automatically from 2nd to 3rd if I let it rev too high. I wasn't aware of the safe down shift speeds. Good information. Have you picked up any clunking in your tranny from the downshifting?

For some real fun get yourself a Superchips Flashpaq. You can custom tune the transmission settings for rev points and you can set it to hold EVERY gear right up to rev limiter..(NOT RECOMMENDED, BUT YOU CAN). Reduce the Torque Management and disable the ESP (YEP You Can, But I wouldn't for daily driving) and you can increase your pucker factor by quite a bit. A lot of fun at the track (Road Courses are my favorite)

I have the SC Flashpaq. I don't think you can disable the ESP. When did this feature get added?

When getting it on, The auto/stick does not work when upshifting. It performs just like any other automatic that doesn't have auto/stick.
It won't shift untill you get to the point where it would have shifted in drive.
I wonder if a superchip mod would be able to over ride the computer when auto/sticking through the gears?
It also downshifts like any other automatic for that matter.
What I like about it is the tight configuration and electronic slap stick with out any manual moving of the shifter when downshifting.
I use to think manually shifting an automatic was goofy. Now the way auto/stick is, it's cool.

By the way,
Does anyone know if the old Hurst dual gate shifters actually changed gears instantly when shifting through the gears or not?

Reading my original post, pardon the confusion. The Flashpaq does NOT disable ESP, but there is a way to do it. It was posted on a forum and I tried it in an open area. The Flashpaq DOES modify the transmission settings so you have to slap it to change through the gears just like a manual when up shifting and downshifting. ( when downshifting be mindful of your RPM's and the effect on the operation of your vehicle)

With Superchips you can set it for 2 tranny modes. Paddle Hold and Paddle Kick. In Paddle Hold the transmission will hold gear until you upshift manually with the stick. When you slow down to a stop the tramsmission will downshift automatically for you. Come to a stop and you are back in first. A very cool feature. More like what the autostick was designed to do. To be honest I haven't tried the Paddle Kick mode but heard it is equally impressive. With reduced torque mamagement and the raised shift points setttings, makes this car much more fun to drive. I can't imagine going back to the stock settings at this point!

Hello , I downshift sometimes Hills slopes etc to help brakes. I love to manual shift but soon as you take it out of drive MDS turns off.
I drive my RT hard at times but when wife and kids are with me i dont .
