Default Transmission Leak GRRRR

Question....... Has anyone experienced their transmission leaking. My 06 R/T has 10,000 miles on it and all of a sudden it is leaking tranny fluid. I know where its coming from. The passenger front solenoid O-Ring is leaking. What gets me is I took it to the dealer and told them what was bad and they told me it was the trans pan gasket. Needless to say they changed a perfectly good trans pan gasket cause it still leaked. I recently went back to the dealer and they looked at it again and told me the O-Ring on the trans solenoid was bad which is what I told them to begin with. Now it has been a 2 weeks and I just noticed the damn thing is still leaking. They told me to bring it back in so they can take a look at it again. Third times a charm .....right? There is nothing more frustrating than a fluid leak(tranny, oil, gear) what makes it more frustrating is it's hard to find a reputable dealer to trust and fix it. Is it possible they damaged the O-Ring during install because I dont need them to tell me something else is bad when its not and fix a perfectly good part. Has anyone else had a their tranny leaking fluid and was it fixed on the first try?

You need a new service team. There was a TSB for leaking trans on 05 they should of reviewed that as a first step. Secondly there is just too much information available on the internet, never go into a dealer without some some research and taking some hardcopies with you. Dont' just say (whatever is wrong) tell them you found this information and you might be having the same problem. I try to make is as easy as possible for them to have a starting point to repair.

I had my 05 R/T into the shop 2 weeks ago w/only 5600 mi. on it with the same problem. The dealer (Actually a Jeep dealer since LITHIA DODGE is nothing but a bunch of theiving fools) immediately knew there was a TSB on 05 hemi trans'. Mine was fixed the first time and done RIGHT!

What they told me was there was a bad batch of O rings and the process includes changing out a few of them AND the trans filter, resetting the codes and letting you motor off for more fun.

Hope that helped.

RJ.

Yeppers. They finally fixed it. Told me that the inner O-ring was bad so they changed out the O-rings and, Wala it's fixed. Only took them 3 times, but at least it's fixed and now the search goes on for a better service team to work on my Dodge.

Just had my leak fixed last week. It was leaking around the electrical pass-thru on the passenger side of the tranny. Really ticked me off for being such a new car. [:@]

Was this a 'recall'?

I have my 05 R/T with 36K on itjust start to leak.

The dealer topped it of this AM (the kid said they've had a few come in with O-Ring problems)...and I'll bring it for service on Wednesday.

I have an extended warranty that will cover it (less deductable)...but it it's a recall...I may not have to use the warranty.

Not that's it's about the deductible -as the sunroof (now)rattles when it's open on 'vent'....so there goes the deductible!

Check out this post. I had the same problem with my '06 R/T with 9,000 miles.....Easy warranty repair, no recall that I know of - but should be if the problem is this wide spread.

There's no recall. Recalls are only required when the issue threatens safety.

It is a VERY common problem based on responses to TrueDelta's reliability survey.

What about the "tie rod" shimmy situation.. I have seen a number of "my car shakes @ 65mph or steering wheel vibrates around 60mph", that should be a recall item, all tie rod issues. I am now having that same problem and will see 2morrow when I take it in for my regular scheduled oil change n maintn, watcha think?

Yates,
What was your final diagnosis? I had about 68,000 miles on my Magnum when I got my first leak. It came along with the Transmission slipping. Took it in, they said it was the O-Ring thing which caused all the fluid to leak out, which caused the slipping. Fixed it, gave it back. Within (3) weeks it was leaking and slipping again. This time it smoked real bad. Took it in, they said it was bad clutches in the torque converter, but they just replaced parts, not the transmission or torque converter. Happened again right before Christmas and got the same response about the clutches and torque converter. They were suprised I had problems, because it went together so smoothly. This time it also had a bad vibration at high speeds. I told them all this. Now with 958 miles over my warranty, this is all happening again. Feels like an unbalanced shaft or something. I try to tell the guys at the dealer they are barking up the wrong tree, but this is what Dodge is mandating they do. Has anyone else had problems with their transmission beyond the simple leak? Let me know what your issue was and how it was solved.
