Is anyone running a radar detector in their Magnum? If so, how is it mounted?
I am looking to mount it clean with a hard wire set up...I have a Passport 8500 x50

May be a lame question....but I would like to be "prepared" when I head over to
Vegas!! [8D]

I just ordered a "Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat" RT, with pretty much everything except the Nav package, and I'm also going to mounting a radar detector, I'll be interested in seeing what snags you run into.

One major difference though, there is no better detector than the Valentine1. <-- personal opinion of course, but I've had a bunch of them and after our yearly jaunt to visit the parents in Vermont (~3K miles total round trip with a side excursion) I can safely say that the Valentine1 has proved again (to me) that it is worth the money.

Saved my butt more than a few times...

The Dealer says '3 to 10 weeks' to get mine, I may have to go 'test drive' a few more times, I can't wait for this car!

I had the same luck with my Escort 8500. Great detector, just remember when you mount the thing in the windshield not to have the front sensor blocked by the windshield wipers. This will render the thing practically useless. (And that would suck...)

Why do you need a radar detector? Surely you are not speeding or breaking the law?

Just kidding,

People use detectors because they speed?? Damn, I use them as a tracking
device to locate the good donut shops.....lol OK, that was real bad....but I have
used detectors for a while....not sure why, since I never exceed the speed limit.
As soon as my Magnum get back from the body shop, I will try to see where to locate
the detector. I am hoping to mount it high, so I can get some use of the rear sensor.

Get the Bell, it's by far the best detector. The site listed above shows real world tests and their results. The Bell is what I will be purchasing this week.

Do not want to start a war here, but the valentine is far better than anything out there. It has to do with range. Mine will "take off" when radar is over 1/2 +++ mile away, of course this is for flat ground curves and hills are another matter.

You should be proud of your Valentine... but to claim it's the "best" without any proof, especially by an independent study conducted by an accepted authority, is well, quite useless.

The Bell is rated the best by a professional (ex-cop and radar instructor) who actually conducts scientific tests.

Believe what you want.

I'm putting a Bell in my R/T.

My dad has had a Valentine for years....he loves it. I had a Bel in my '01 Dodge Ram....with that
one, I was on a winding mountain highway, when I first picked up a Ka signal, it was about
35 seconds until I passed a CHP unit going by me in the opposite direction. I know it was
picking signals well over 1/2 mile....if not twice that.

I may be crazy, but I am going to try the Passport 8500 x50....it is far more current than
the Bel I was using in the Ram....as far as being better, I guess I will find out.
