Good, reliable family car?

Good, reliable family car?
Unfortunately I'm going to have to replace the family mini van with a new car. It's sad a company like Honda can't make an automatic transmission that lasts over 85,000 miles [:@]. I'm looking at station wagons and one of my biggest concerns is longevity and reliability. What are the known problems of these vehicles? Is there a reliability difference between the six cylinder and the hemi? Anyone know of any high mileage vehicles and how they have done? Any info would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

You can search for all of the problems these cars have, although I would hope most if not all of the stuff that has gone wrong with mine have been worked out of the factory - or the CAW's fired. 3times to dealer for remote start failure, one for the windshield pop, once for a leaking rear diff front seal, once for a rumbling plate in the transfer case, once for chrysler center caps installed on the passenger side, zero times for the door gaskets not pushed in all the way - I fixed that, not yet for the cupholder, not yet for the rear power windows although the passenge window has started working again, not yet for a cold weather dash rattle, unsure of headlamp flash or bloom when coming to a stop, unsure of turn signal stalk that sometimes causes wipers to go to speed 1 from intermittent. But it has never failed to start or get me where I want to go.

RE: Good, reliable family car?
Bought my SE with 17k on it and now have 36k...no problems whatsoever (knock on wood!). Use synthetic oil and change at 5k intervals. The 2.7 V6 is not a performance engine by any means but it is enough for my purposesas it cruises very nicely.
I love this car and have taken long drives from Buffalo, NY to Long island (approx 7-8 hours) and got between 26-28mpg at 75mph. General mpg is 22-24mpg around town.
The ride is very comfortable, the controls are solid and it is unlike anyhting else on the road. Try it, you'll like it!

RE: Good, reliable family car?
I have less than 2 years and just over 40,000 miles on my R/T AWD. I do not beat the car,90% secondary highways at 60 mph or less. I have had a new transfer case installed (shudder at parking lot speeds), left rear window motor replaced, intermittant wiper issues, misc rattles that I have chased down, and now a new transmission is needed (on backorder) as under partial load, like going up a slight incline, the whole car shakes like there are 4 flat tires.
Mine is an 05 so it has the 7/70 power train coverage, if I had an 06, I think I'd be out of luck.
If the car did not sound as good and turn heads like it does, it would be long gone....but I really love driving it.
