Default Another Exhaust Thread

Following the advice of the earlier thread, I took my Magnum in this morning and had the Flowmaster 40s installed. I am very conservative and wanted just a little more of an exhaust tune than stock. If you do anything to this car, I highly recommend at least putting the Flowmaster's on and leaving the resonators in place. It sounds awesome but not too loud. Here in Houston the cost was $300. Great investment!

Ok...I think we need some clarification. At least I do. What are we calling the resonators and what are we calling the mufflers. Is the muffler the "suitcase" right after the x or is it the resonator. It seems to me that the terms should be switched. What part did you remove and replace with flowmasters?

"suitcase" = muffler
That is what I replaced with the Flowmasters

The things in the back attached to the tips = resonators

At least that's how label them.

Anyway, I replaced the suitcase (muffler) with the Flowmasters.

Hey Mike! Finally, I found another person in Houston that has a Magnum! Not many on the streets yet, I've only seen 3 others so far around town. Mine is an SXT, no Hemi, but still love the thing. Done duals myself with Flowmaster 40s, no resonator, S&K filter, and a little tuning so far. Even for a V6, this thing runs really stong. Anyway, drop me a line sometime and maybe we can hook up to compare notes in person. Later!

Puppy,

Seen some of your posts. You have also done some mods to the sound system - correct? I would love to see what you have done to give me some ideas. I just got mine last Wednesday so I have not had time to make any changes yet other than the exhaust.

I did take the car in for the "pull to the right" problem at Helfman Dodge in Katy and he said the adjustments made to some of the other cars on the thread were for cars built before April 23rd (I think). He said he corrected mine according to the specs given by the factory but it is still going to pull to the right - but it will not affect the tire treads.

All I can say is if it still pulls to the right, take it to Allen Samuels on 610 south off of Fannin and 280 south. Mine pulled to the right, they got with DC knowledge center, worked the issues, and now mine runs straight and true, except for any road crowning. On a flat level surface, no vearing from a straight line at all. Maybe we need to start a Magnum club here in Houston now. I just saw a black RT here at work today (Greenspoint area) but don't know who it is yet.

this post just re-affirms my deciding to order two 40 series muffs too. they should be on by the weekend and the suitcase (muffler) is there intended victim.

I have had flowmasters on every gas vehicle i've owned, so the choice was not hard. trying to decide whether to leave the resonators is my delima. i figured this way i can always take them off later if the flowmasters arent enough. or maybe some cutouts between the the two. kinda like captains choice or silent choice exhaust in a boat. HEHE!

I'll keep ya posted,
Todd
