Wash & Wax
I notice the corvette types seems to favor 'zaino' - very labor intensive and VERY expensive, but they all swear the results are worth it. I'll claybar mine and zymol it, and it will looks 'jes fine, thankyouverymuch ;-)
I highly recommend the stuff.
I am lucky enough to have two sons that work in body shops, one is a car painter.
They do a good job of keeping my cars cleaned and waxed.
You have to know what you are doing to buff out a car the right way, I mean using a buffing machine. Easy to burn through the paint or end up with swirl marks.
I had 2 black cars in the past, no more!
I like my Magnesium Pearl color.

Ditto on the black cars. 2 was enough for me too. My shoulders couldn't take it any more! I would never let a buffing machine come close to one of my cars regardless of color or the experience level of the operator.
Even using terry towels can produce swirls. Make sure to use 100% cotton. Even those that say they are 100% aren't. The stitching and edges are usually a nylon or other abrasive fabric.

Clay bar is a miracle!!!
I use the Meguires Gold Class car wash. Pour it in heavy, do not go cheap!! Gives a great, swirl free shine on EVERYTHING. Adding in the extra amount really adds to that shine. And it is really SMOOOOOTH to the touch afterwards.

I have used them all but find that Zanio is by far the best and is very easy to apply. The Corvette Club of America did a test on many waxes and Zanio was by far the best. Zymol came in second. Purchased mine at Zanio Bros. web site. It actually has no wax in the formula.
Check out 5 Star Shine. We're a new sponsor to dodgeforum. It is just as good as Zaino but easier to apply and lasts far longer.

With every new car I have ever bought, I have promised myself that I would wash it and wax it and detail it regularly. I have yet to do so because I am freakin' lazy. (GASP: I go to car washes!!)
I have never heard of a clay bar. What is it?
How often is too often for washing and waxing a vehicle? With the PTFE paint protector, do you apply that THEN apply a wax?
