i have a black rt and was wondering, can anyone tell me what causes the spider web looking swirls in black cars after a poor wax job? is it the wax? the application? the buffing?

I went ahead and got the Meguiar's NXT soap and wax....it's a bit more expensive. I had
to take my Inferno Red Magnum back to the deal last week to get roof of the car repaired,
not sure if the dent was from the factory or happened in transit. When I got the car back,
I had some real nice swirls from where the body shop had buffed out the entire car.....[:@]
So far from what I can tell, 75% of the swirls have disappeared....the color does look a bit
deeper.

[&:]Oh Boy a wax thread this will be intresting, The spider webs is usually the wax. I use zymol on dark color cars, It is more expensive up front but in the long run is not. Or you can use Mequiers "mirror glaze" it is number 7, this is not a wax but leaves a show car finish.

Meguiar's all the way! I have used them for years. NXT stuff is pretty nice. I still prefer the Gold Class stuff. The webs are from the way you applied the wax. Make sure you use 100% terry cloth towels nothing else on the paint. If they don't come out, get some Scratch X and use that, it works as a paint cleaner. Then re wax doing one section at a time and don't let the wax sit to long. If your buffing it out and you can hear it squeaking you let it sit to long. Also read the site it has a lot of info.

I've used Zymol for a long time - love the shine, smells good too!

But preparation is the real key - do some reading up on using a 'claybar' - done right it's absolutely amazing how much better it looks. For some reason, going top-to-bottom on the sides (ie: up and down) and front-to-back on the top/hood/trunk makes the shine come out better - I read that somewhere on the net and it does seems to work, or maybe it's just me :-)

I notice the corvette types seems to favor 'zaino' - very labor intensive and VERY expensive, but they all swear the results are worth it. I'll claybar mine and zymol it, and it will looks 'jes fine, thankyouverymuch ;-)

[8D]This eve went out and washed the magnum and then ran my hand accross the hood. It was NOT smooth. Since I had a clay bar went to work on the hood and got lots of black stuff off. Must have been from the shipipng by train from east coast to west coast. Anyway the clay bar in the only way to get off this kind of stuff. Works good on some tree sap as well. For some reason the top was not the same it is basically smooth, there must have been some kind of cover on the top in shipping. Now the hood has its Zymol treatment and the "baby diaper" slides right off. I do prefer Zymol but have used lots and still of meguiers. [&:]

I haven't used the NXT product line, but I use their Mirror Glass Professional line (Show car Glaze and Hi-Tech Yellow Wax) and absolutely love them!

Look at that shine!!!

To be fair, this wasn't a meguiar's wax. The dealer clay-bared it and put their own wax on it. The wax they used is made by some company locally. They gave me a package with wash, wax, interior cleaner, window cleaner, and something else, forgot... They'll refill the bottles no charge for 5 years.. BUT I still prefer the meguiar's mirror glaze professional stuff.
