I'm still getting aquainted with my maggie.
1600 miles, most of them ******* along with rush hour traffic. The car handles suprising well, stops well, rides good, but a bit stiff.
Accelleration is great for a small block. It doesn't want to smoke the tires, even with the ESP button off, and a little brake torque assist. A minor squal is the best it's done.

Took a 200 mileroad trip that kept me between 65-70. Stock it got 24.9 MPGon the trip.
900 miles later, with a gibson cat back system, and drop in K&N, I did the same trip, in the same conditions. 25.2 MPG. Close enough to call it the same.
Ditto on local commute. 16-17 MPG just slugging along with the crowd. There is no opportunity to drive agressively when all lanes are bumper to bumper.

I was suprised it actually got the sticker milage, which is when driven easy.
The few times I've had the chance to open it up, or cruised at 75, the MPG went down fast.

I've noticed the Gibson is quiet at 65MPH. I can barely detect the switch from 4 to 8 cyl. firing, with 8 bieing a bit louder. It's passing the wife test, which is mandantory.

On the flip side, the system is deep toned and loud at 1500 RPM just going from light to light.
Seems the exhaust isn't loaded up at the low RPM and speed, and it sounds like an echo chamber. Tap it down a few shifts, and it quets up about 1800 RPM.
I'm hesitant to say I've noticed any real gain in power when I open it up either.

Putting some blastin bobs at the back may well have changed the exhaust tone and accomplished the same thing.

Next, I'll blow several hundred on a AFE stage 2, and see how that compares to the drop in K&N. At least it will sound like a good old quadrajet secondary kicking in.

Will disconnecting the battery for 15 min. actually cause some reset to "Hal"? Or pulling fuse 17 do something different than the dash button?
