Nah, your natural enemy is hopped up Civics and ricers. Why? They sacrafice size and power for speed. That's the logical opposite IMO.

ORIGINAL: ParrotSquawk

From what I have been seeing and reading on this and other forums, I think the most natural enemy will end up being the Chevy Malibu and the Crown Vic with the Police Interceptor Packages, (until the cops get the Magnum with a cop pack: see Magnum / Enforcer Cop Cars )

The civilian and police versions of the Crown Victoria have shared the same engine and transmission since 1992. The police package only adds extra oil coolers and wiring for radios. 92-02 Police package did have slightly beefed up frame, making a police package heavier than a fully loaded Crown Vic LX, but with the new hydroformed frame rails that is no longer necessary.

The only performance difference has been slightly different programming in the ECU / Powertrain control module. But the difference is so minor that its laughable. Any place that burns custom chips should be able to easily come up with better programming.

As of right now, there is no magic police package from ford, its really nothing more than a towing package / severe service package.

I agree completely. When I was a police chief, I bought the Crown Vic's and was always suprised at what dogs they were. They couldn't get out of their own way. Kept my officers from putting them in ditches though! Just remember, even though they are slow, it's tough to outrun the radio that's on the inside.
