jacked rear end
anyone know of an easy way to jack the rear end of a 71 challenger up is.
i've heard of
-shackels
-air bags
-air shocks
what would be the easiest and cheapest way to do this. i only want about 2 inches. will i have to worry about tire hop? bf radials 275 60 15's on amerrican racing torq thrust d's

If you put on shackels your going to have to cut the rear valance. I have 275x60x15's on my 70 Challenger and didn't have to raise the rear to fit. If all your going for in 2 ins I would either use SS springs on air shocks.

I agree with BadStratRT. Not only will S/S springs give you additional clearance but they will vastly improve your launch as well. Don't know about your "E" body but I have 30" diameter 295s in my stock "B" body wheel wells with S/S springs.

Air shocks have a tendency to leak, that's what my dad has on his '74 Barracuda right now and it goes low. He has a set of SS springs that will be put on it soon, I would go with the SS springs if I were you.
Not that this will help the person that started the thread since its several months old but here's my take on the rear end height. I ve had air shocks on several cars and yes they were great for fine tuning the rear end height but the big issue I've had was ride comfort. They bounce, jolt, etc. I started hating them and about 2 years ago I decided to fix the issue. I ordered a new set of springs from ESPO. Springs & Things I ordered a factory set of H/D 440/Hemi springs with a 1" over on the arch. That would have the car sitting with the stance I wanted and it would eliminate the need for air shocks. I then installed Edelbrock IAS shocks on all four corners. Between the new springs and new shocks this GTX rides so much better. No jolts bounce etc. And the ride height is within 1/4" of what I had when I had air shocks. They also make 2" over springs but I haven't read were alot of people installed that much arch but it is possible to buy them that way. It was not cheap to do it this way but it was the most correct and man does it ride nice now. Hope this helps anybody who might be thinking on an upgrade..... Chris[sm=smiley20.gif]
