Unfortunately the Daytona R/T is nothing more than a graphics package on a plain jane Charger, the proper comparison would be the SRT-8 Charger.

between the mustang gt500 and the charger srt-8, the charger srt-8 would probably win

i dont think so...just based on the lighter car, plus a stick shift...and id be willing to bet the stang has a better ratio rearend for racing.

Strat's right. The GT500 Mustang will have 75 more hp than the SRT-8 and will weigh about 600lbs less. Do the math. Keep in mind, though, that you're comparing a heavy full size sedan to a 2+2 sport coupe. Different animals.

Am I the only one that has noticed that history is repeating itself? The best era in automotive history is repeating itself, the Muscle Car Era,but it is going all wrong and it isn't even as great as it originally was. Horsepower is climbing to places it has never even been before, insurance costs are up there as well and gas prices are far in excess of our most dreaded nightmares. The cars this time around are far from affordable to Joe average in most cases, most lack the formula of the originals (past: big block V8's, RWD, 2 door coupe/ present: 4 cylinder turbos to small block V8's, RWD, FWD and AWD, 2 door coupe and 4 door sedans), most lack the originals thundering exhausts and they lack the ability to get only the options you want instead of having to get them in group packages. The plus side to the performance cars of today is that they are more functional in most cases, they greatly out handle the originals as well as out performing them in the 1/4 mile most of the time, having a higher top speed and getting better gas mileage.

I am not calling ANY of the new cars muscle cars, I am only comparing them to the muscle cars and the muscle car era as a whole. With the current increase in horsepower and fuel costs it seemed to be obvious what is happening, it's the late 60's - early 70's all over again. Now it's coming to the bad part just like it did back then, the fall of the powerful fun cars and the rise of the more emissions controlled and heavily regulated economy cars. Enjoy it while it lasts, because it's all about to change for the worse.[:@][][&o]
