Dodge Muscle CarsWhen it was all about noise and big (and bigger) engines, Dodge and Plymouth ruled the roads. Discuss the Muscle cars that once were within.
Dear all, I have a friend who bought a Dodge Charger a few months ago, supposedly a 1971 model. The car is painted bright green (not its original color) with R/T logos all over, and a mat black hood. It has a 318 engine, 727 automatic and ALL the heating accessories have been removed from the car. Since the car seems to have been worked on a lot, it is not an R/T that is for sure, and I doubt what it really and which year it is . I even doubt the chassis plate belongs to this car. Instruments cluster is 1971-1974 Mopar non rallye.
Can anybody help me to identify what year and model this Dodge is. I include also a picture of the engine bay, where the heater hoses passed the bulkhead into the interior if this helps. I am trying to find a heater kit to install here, but nothings shows up. Is this car much different from the Challenger? I am looking up Vintageair but they only have kits for 1971 Challenger
Anyway, first I need to know what this car really is. Any help? This is the tag fixed to the bulkhead this number is stamped on the right fender Here is where the heater hoses went in and apparently the blower housing was fitted. differnt angle
Rear lights have been replaced with LED, so is not original
Apparently, the owner told me, the car was manufactured in Venezuela, thus the strange chassis number. I have made some research and in 1971 a Venezuelan version Charger R/T U.S.A (318-4V Carter AVS, 270 hp) was build.
A really strange bird here.

Yeah, need pictures of the whole car. Interior, engine bay, etc. Thats like asking us to identify a movie star by only a picture of her boob.
I'd look at it. On the car, take a picture of the whole car from several angles as well as a picture of the VIN plate on the top front of the dash on the drivers side through the windshield. ALL vehicles sold in the U.S. starting in 1968 had it there. There are hidden VINs stamped on frame componenets but it's been so long since I dealt with that I don't remember where they are.
A 71 charger should have a fender tag(or two) on the left inner fender by the battery. It tells everything the car left the factory with. The vin tag will tell you basic stuff like year engine plant it was made at etc... It's actually stamped in to the body in different locations also. Look at the back upper half of the rear seat(between the springs and padding), The factory build sheet may still be there. The tags on it are not correct and by the looks of whoever covered all the heat/ac ports up with bondo who knows what they came from. Even the prototype cars had the tags in the same location and have really low # for the vin such as 000001. The links may help... http://mymopar.com/index.php

"built"? Looks more like hacked. If the op would have posted a pic of the vin plate(factory fender tag/s or the build sheet) you can tell exactly what it is.
