1979 Mirada Review
Ok, So i know that there is more than 1 mirada owner here...4 maybe? Well, anyway, Amanda got me the Car and Driver announcing the release of the 1980 Dodge Mirada.."the personal luxury flagship"...Well, the article isnt very flattering, but I found the review statistics very amusing. First off, like ann C&D release reviews, they compared it to three other cars "in its class". Those three cars were: Toyota Celica Supra, Pontiac Grand Prix LJ, and the Datsun 200SX. I can understand the Grand Prix, but the Supra?! I know that its no 2jzgte supra..but still. Anyway, here is the output of the mirada, per C&D:
Price as tested:
$9791
Engine:
318 cubic inch, 120bhp @ 3600rpm, 245lbs-ft of torque @ 1600rpm
Steering:
Turns, lock to lock-3.5
Turning circle curb to curb: 24.8
Performance (0 to xx):
30-4.8
40-7.0
50-9.9
60-13.4
70-18.1
80-24.1
90-34.2
100-52.2
Standing Quarter Mile: 19.6 @ 73 mph
Top Speed: 105 mph
Braking, 70-0-208 feet
EPA Fuel Economy-15mpg
All in all, they werent very complementary, but as a collector of Mirada stuff, I was excited to get the magazine.

I own an 81 Mirada. Most people, wife, hates the car. It has all the luxuries. Mine is a CMX model, 318. I have had it for 8 years. The nice thing it takes all the heavy duty police equip from the Dips. There are about 6 I know of in my area.
They did not make that many. Most in Canada and Detroit. 60 were sent to Florida to get dreaded leaking T-tops! It is definitely a candidate for drag racing because of the suspension and size.

Was not aware there were any Mirada folks here, stumbled on this old thread. I too have a Mirada (1981) with 111K miles, original 318 car now a 360 has been a great car for the 19 years I've owned her.
Will make sure to follow this and other Mirada threads.
Happy and safe holiday season to everyone.
