Default 1969 Super Bee

I just bought my first Mopar muscle car, a '69 Super Bee 383 4-speed. Been a GM guy forever but always liked the '69 Bee. It's a bench seat with the standard round **** shifter. Would really like to put a pistol grip shifter in it but know the pistol grip wasn't an option till 1970. I assume I would need the shifter arm also? Is this just a bolt off/on change and if so, what arm do I need?

Not sure how they mount at the base, but, I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn you need the entire shifter...... I would expect that they mount the same though.

Welcome to DF!

Some bolt to the base of the shift handle with 2 or 3 bolts. Others required a base dedicated to the handle. It's been a few weeks (like several hundred) since I worked on one of these. Remove the boot at the base. Just some screws around the chrome hold down ring, the life the boot up and take a picture. You should be able to see what holds it on, or at least take a picture and we can figure it out. (let's see, 45 years at 52 weeks per year.........)
