Dodge Muscle Cars When it was all about noise and big (and bigger) engines, Dodge and Plymouth ruled the roads. Discuss the Muscle cars that once were within.

Default question?

my 78 dodge magnum 318 is very quiet.... a little to quiet

i want to give it a beastly sound, could i do this with just adding duel exhaust

or would i have to buy flow masters to...

what would this cost?
and how much more horsepower could i expect to see....

does any one no if North Carolina emissions makes you have to have a catlic converter for 78?

Default RE: question?

Run duals with burnt out glass packs, but that just because I was too cheap to buy flowies at the time. Found out I liked the glass packs better when I bought the flowies.

NOPE- any vehicle 10 years or older doesnt have to pass the emmissions part of inspection.

I'm not gonna move this thread, might get complaints... but uh... I know you would get better, faster, knowledgable answers in the blast from the past area... Muscle, classics... either one...

Just some advice...

You don't have to appaulagize. My fault for sayin you would complain... It's just lately, if I move a topic that should be somewhere else, or somewhere where someone might get better results, I get complaints. I just think you would get better results if it was posted in a section where there are people who know about the 318...

You guys are lucky! Here in Pa it goes back to 1973. Magnums are poor boy Cordobas as such they are pretty well equipped the same. The only ones I know of were the 1976 400 cubic inch lean burns that didn't have a cat. Boy were they fast. We cruised to Florida in one in 16 hours befor I-95 was complete. Nothing like 85 MPH at 16 MPG!
You will have to watch it if you go to dual exhaust becaues by that time the underbody of Mopars were engineered for single exhaust. Fitting the extra pipe up against the body and not having it rattle or get bashed on a whoop d doo takes a lot of work.
When Marko was writing for Mopar Muscle hedescribed the exhaust on his 125 MPH Dippy cop car. He ran a 31/2 inch single sewer pipe that would out flow any muffler shop dual set up. My Diplomat will be retired as my daily driver shortly. At that time it gets a 400 stroker and a 2 1/2 single with a cat and a turbo.
