Default Building a c body

I need some suggestions/info. I am going to customs up my c-body. I really wanted to drop a 5.7 w/ tranny in. I figure with all new guages and wiring it would plug right in...but i learned that they have security issues like key matching...also cableless throttle. Without spending the bank for the custom install kit is there another way to tackle these issues? If not hows about the 4.7...im not looking to burn the tires up and down but i would like a decient amount of power....a 5 speed auto would be awsome on a big c body. If all else fails a 5.9 and a a518 will do....but im looking for a little smoother running ride with that custom flare. thanks all

I am building a C body too (Plymouth) your ideas sound interesting but why not keep it simple, the 360 with a good intake and an overdrive auto would be simple and provide plenty of power if your not going to go big with power and should be esy to find just use some highway friendly gears and youll have a sweet cruiser.....I am sticking with the 383 and carb on mine...going after the super stock look on a very tight budget. Best of luck

You really only need the computer if your going fuel injected, you can swap the intake and carburate them and there's kits available for that as well as being able to buy them already carburated. The key is only a security item in the computer that requires it to start, but you can get ones that do not require a keys' chip to start. There are also programmable units too.

on 65 c bodys they had a heater control valve bolted to the fire wall, it would leek collant down the fire wall and collect at the
torsion bar ancoher. it would then rust out the ancoher. then the right side would go bang and drop to the ground. to fix it just disconect the heater control valve, and get one for a 63 buick, and put next to the engine. i think B bodys may have the some valve setup
