sleeper build?
does anyone know wat would make a killer sleeper? i was thinkin a dart but i wuz wonderin wat u guys would choose? definitely lookin for an inexpensive car that would still look cool. dart would work cuz a lotta people see em as grandma cars but they still look good. any ideas?
a member here, 273dart, has a 69 dart sedan, with a 273, running 12.50s...i think that dart sedans or scamps make great sleepers.
any unusual mopar will make a good sleeper, as everyone expects the chargers, cudas, roadrunners, etc, to be fast...but if you get something that isnt common, keep it plain looking and build the motor up, youll have a nice sleeper.

Darts and Dusters are great lightweight starting points, but they're kinda common for the sleeper list. The sedans aren't though. Another option isn't the best starting point due to their weight, but that's another reason for the suprise factor when they are built right and they usually come already equipped with the big blocks, the big ol' C-body (Fury, Monaco, etc.). They are usually pretty cheap too and the '70 Fury looks especially menacing with it's wrap around front bumper and hideaway headlights. Another option would be the F-body (Volare and Aspen) which are cheap and look pretty good when done right. Best of all would be a Reliant with a V8 RWD conversion, that would be the deadliest sleeper of all.
You woundn't need a v8 in a Reliant to make it a sleeper. Turbo motor can make them move. I would if you can find would be an 70s colt or what I've got 70's arrow. No one knows what they are. They less then nothing and can be bought cheap if you can find one.

Are you looking for an older car, like from the 70's, or can it be something newer? If it can be something newer i'd highly recommend any of the late 80's turbo dodges, like the shadows or omni glh/glhs, or even better, a 1991 or 1992dodge spirit r/t (225hp, 175ft lbs torque 2.2L turbo III motor, 0-60mph about 6.5s). Lol, one owned a 2000 Audi S4 on the highwayon youtube. Personally, i have a '88 Dodge Shadow ES (2.2L Turbo I) and it moves like a bat out of hell. the only problem i have with it is it is starting to burn some oil and it is only boosting 5psi (should be boosting about 10psi), but i suspect that it is a problem with the wastegate control.

Agree with all suggestions as well. May even want to look at the "leaning tower of power". The bulletproof slant six can be built to quite stout power...especially with some 3:91 gears or soand many won't expect that...especially in a Dart, Duster, etc. where they usually lived anyway
