2000 Neon-5 Speed Stuck In Reverse
Hello everybody! well my first post here is not a good one, so here it goes. I have a 2000 Dodge Neon, 5 speed. Today when I went to pull out of my parking spot I did so and in the process tried tp put it in 1st gear and I couldn't. The only thing it will do is go in reverse. The gears don't shift around like they normally should either. Is this a common problem with these? It has higher miles with 110,000 on it. It was running absolutely fine until this happend today. There was always a minor clunk when I put it in reverse but didn't think anything of it. Anyways, do you have any idea what copuld have happend? Thanks!
Check your shift bushings and see if they are intact. On the cabels under the battery box and under the shifter. Known to go bad. If so don't get a new cable get some Booger Bushings from either www.boogerracing.com or www.modernperformance.com.
Once there you can see if you can shift your trans manually. But look their first.
