2.4L Engine rebuild question
I got a salvage Stratus and pulled the 2.4l engine to rebuild. My Haynes manual doesn't explain how to remove the "counterbalancer" mechanism on the bottom of the engine to allow access to the rod/main bolts. Does anyone know how it comes out? It's chain driven,is it timed? Does anyone know if Chilton has a manul that is more detailed about the 2.4L engine?
Thanks for any help

Actually, the engine is going into a Caravan, but its the same 2.4l engine as in the Neon (and a bunch of other Chrysler models). From reading posts it appears more Neon'er have rebuilt their 2.4l engine than in any other forum, so I thought this would be a good place to ask a general engine question.

I found the information I needed. Turned out it's in the Haynes manual after all, just not in the place I thought it would be. The engine rebuild chapter jumps back and forth between the 4 cyl. and 6 cyl. engines, kind of confusing at first.

They share the same head, but different blocks.
