97 Neon Shuts Down Suddenly
Ok, well we're in the middle of a hurricane right now, so when it's over I'll check it. We're not storing the car here, due to the problems it's having. So I turn the ignition on and off 5 times, then the light will flash for me? I understand the code part, but that's all there is to it? I'll do it as soon as the hurricane's gone. Thanks guys!
Err I meant 3 times, lol. It starts flashing as I turn it on the third time? I'll do it when I can open the door to the house without losing it. :P I've gotta shut this down now though. C-ya!
I managed to remove instrument panel and checked the Check Engine Light. The bulb is good but still it doesn't lit. Probably the OBD system is gone????
However, I checked the PCV which was fu***d up! I changed the PCV and hose and seems like "stalling while idling" problem has been fixed.

well thats good, for the CEL, I would still try to figure it out. I doubt its the OBD, cause that would mean that your pcm is broke and I doubt the car would be running right if you replace the pcv.
Ok. I ran the diag. Here's what I got.
12 Direct battery input to PCM was disconnected within the last 50 key-on cycles
24 Throttle Position sensor out of range
25 Idle air control motor circuits, target idle not reached (+/- 200),vacuum leak found
Now, would someone step by step me on how to fix each of these, please? In layman terms, if possible. I'm still learning engines.

12 = Nothing, don't worry about it. That code is always there and doesn't mean anything. It's nothing to worry about.
24 = is in near correlation to the code 25 and is a very good indication that both those sensors are bad. Replace them. Dealer cost? About $200 but you may be able to get them from Napa or Autozone for much cheaper.
25 = Either the sensor is bad, which by the sounds of it witht he code 24 it very may well be. BUT, replace all the hoses coming off the throttle body with new ones.
The TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) and IAC (Idle Air Control) are both on the throttle body. If you choose to replace both sensors and all the hoses coming off the TB then it's also a good idea to bench clean the TB with Mopar TB and Intake Manifold Cleaner and replace the gasket that goes between the IM (Intake Manifold) and TB.
To remove the TB you are going to have to remove the intake tube that runs over the top of the engine, disconnect the intake tube that goes from teh TB to the airbox. Rotate the throttle linkage on the TB so that the butterfly opens and disconnect the two cables attatched to it. Take car NOT to break the one for the transmision, otherwise you'll be at the dealer buying a new transmission kickdown cable (if it's an ATX) get a 3/8" 13mm socket and a 3/8" ratchet with a 6" 3/8" extension. There are two bolts holding the TB onto the IM remove them. Then there is a bracket that is also attatched to the side of the TB I wanna say they are between 7 and 10mm so you are also going to need those sockets to remove them but I am not sure. You are also going to need a 15MM deep well socket to remove the bottom half of the bracket from the transmission. Disconnect the 2 sensors, there may be red locking tabs that you'll have to unclip, they can be quite a pain in the ***. Remove the sensors fromt he TB itself and proceed to spray the crap out of it with the cleaner. Using a rag, dry and wipe the inside of the TB. If you decide to reuse the sensors make sure you replace the o-rings on them. But if you replace them all-together then the new sensors will come with o-rings. (I think you should replace them).
You are going to need 1/4" hose and possibly 3/8" hose (I'm not sure, I've only got 1/4" hose on my TB because I've done some "modifications" to a few of the emissions going back to the TB) you might want to get 6' of each to be safe.
Hope this helps and I apologize if I've missed anything. I'm kinda tired.

Ok, a couple things. Squee, I love you. Secondly, don't hate me, but I'm lost. I know where the throttle body is (I plugged in my intake there, right? :P Thirdly, I need pictures or something, I have a real hard time visualizing... I'm so sorry for all the trouble, It's my only car and I can't drive it right now.
Thanks again guys!
