The future of the Neon
has any one heard of this and WTF is diamler doing to Dodge
The Neon will be replaced by a new model which will combine Neon and Mitsubishi Lancer designs. It will have substantial engineering and input from Chrysler, particularly on the coupe.
The 2.0 engine will be eliminated, and a new engine, initially developed by Hyundai but heavily modified (redesigned) by Chrysler and Mitsubishi, will be used. This engine is reportedly superior to the 2.0 and 2.4; it takes to a turbocharger like a duck takes to water. It will be made in Michigan (Mitsubishi and Hyundai will make their own in Japan and Korea). Further out are rumors of a larger, Chrysler-designed engine in a special high-performance version. Either way, it is said to be in line for a much plusher interior.
The next-generation Mitsubishi Evo will indeed make it to the US, with American designers working on the two-door version and Japanese designers on the four-door. Chrysler teams have been helping Mitsubishi to make the Evo a better rally car, and the two-door in particular will benefit from Chrysler's excellent ACR experience.
