does anyone know where the thermostat is located on a 2000 neon?

 

The thermostat housing is on the front left side of the cylinder head where the radiator piping enters the head. You remove two screws and the housing will come off the head, then the thermostat is right there...

 

Will it spill a lot of coolant after I loosen those two bolts? And is the thermostat just a snap on?

 

It wont spill a lot of coolant, but you should put a towel or something underneath the thermostat housing to catch any coolant that does come out...the thermostat just sits in the housing, there arent any clamps, bolts, or anything holding it in. Just a single groove so you know its positioned inside the housing correctly.
