No. I have a first gen. Unless the rubber thing attatched to the wire broke when you were pulling it off and the small metal clip inside the wire came out then I could see where you are ahving a problem.

I changed my plugs a few times. if you have the right socket and a extension it will fit right down the tube fine. I got the platinum 4 plugs and it still runs good. i put diffrent plugs in just to change them and it ran like **** so i put the platinum 2 in and they run great also.

they gave me the wrong plugs, I tryed a smaller socket on the plugs in the car and when got them out and compared them to the ones autozone gave me they were different. I was sizing the socket on the new ones. Problem solved.

some advice next time you go to autozone or advanced auto parts. look the part up on the web site and get the part number and all the information. this way when you go you can match it up before you leave to save you a trip back. i caught them a few times messing up the parts.

speaking of autozone giving you the wrong parts, i change my own oil (i trust nobody with my oil) autozone gave me the wrong filter, it screwed on and sealed up fine the problem came when i was driving down the interstate and my oil light came on, the filter was almost identical except for a little spring type thing in the bottom, now my car has a slight tick but no burning oil or loss of power. So always double check your parts.

Ok, i will change the plugs, but I can't get the socket anywhere near the plugs, the socket is too wide, is there a special socket?
I had a similar problem with the Mopar Performance valve covers and it's bolts on my Roadrunner. The bolt heads were to close to the sides of the valve cover to get a socket onto it. I was using a 3/8 drive ratchet and socket with an extension, come to find out that was what my problem was, the 3/8 drive size sockets sidewall was too thick and wouldn't fit so I had to switch to a 1/4 drive socket which has a thinner sidewall. If your correct size spark plug socket will not fit (which is usually 3/8 drive size) then try using a 1/4 drive deep well socket that is the same size as the plugs. Since the 1/4 drive sockets have thinners sidewalls, it should fit whereas the 3/8 drive wouldn't.
