First Post...gas pedal will not depress in drive...wtf??!!
Hello,
I just got this car from my Fiancee's parents and it has a sporatic issue. The problem is when you put it in drive sometimes the gas pedal will not depress no matter how hard you try to push it down. You put the car back in neutral and you can free rev it all you want. This is a 97 neon with an auto....I don't have much experience with auto's as I've always driven manuals but could this possibly be the vacuum modulator for the trans?
I just find it extremely odd that it only happens when in gear. Another question, I haven't really looked under the hood much, but the car idles EXTREMELY poorly at start up. Is there an idle air control valve on these motors(2000 DOHC motor). I come from a Ford background so Dodge stuff is still new to me and on the Fords, typically on a cold startup if you have a rough idle it is either the idle control valve or mass air flow sensor. If I hold the gas pedal down for a couple seconds then the idle will return to 1k and will remain there as normal.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks,
Jason
