You just have the filter? Just replace the stock filter if thats all you have. You don't even have to take the airbox out like I did in the picture below.

Do you have a 1st or 2nd gen? I know that won't work on a 1st gen since the throttle body is vertical.

when i first got a filter it poped on easy but there is a sensor in the box if you just hook up the filter and leve the sensor off it might mess sumthing up. I bouhgt a 3 in small pipe and painted it black and drilled a hole for the sensor to fit into it then i hooked the filter up the the pipe. it works good sounds great and fits in the front.

It won't mess anything up. I pushed my sensor in my fenderwell for the time being. My friend told me all that sensor does is take a reading on the air temperature.

yep thats all the sensor is for. Just tells the PCM how much fuel to add, but unlees it is majorly off, the O2 sensors will ajust rich and lean right back out.

The ebay chips are garbage because they don't work. If you want something that will add power get a performance pcm.

Sorry to bring up this old post, since I'm new I'm just reading some of these post's, and I found this one to be a LOT of help. I was planning on buying a cold air soon, and reading this.. I take it that I only have to buy a cone filter from autozone and attach it to the end of the air hose, correct? Can it sit inside of the airbox (with lid off im guessing, need all that nice air blasting it)?
