Yes, I'm very thankful for my Neon.

What I've bought so far:
Lip Kit

What I still need to get:
17" Rims (tires too, gonna cost about $1,000)
Subs, GOOD Speakers ($400?)
Flowmaster Muffler, Not Too Roary of A Sound But Still Good ($150 + install)
New Exhaust Pipe (one from Carmax kinda sucks, I'd like a nice shiny one).

And if I ever get the cash:
SRT4 Engine

-I bought my '05 SXT in July for $11k including taxes. It had 19k miles on it and now it has just a tick over 25k. I like everything about the car except a few sqeaks from the front seats I can't seem to locate. Didn't start happening until we went to Myrtle Beach. But besides that it's a fine little car.

Right now I'm pretty upset. I'm only 16, and my parents let me buy my own car, but they signed for it and everything. Anyways, I saw a 05 Neon at Carmax for 12,000, and I liked it so I said ok. I've had it for 2 months, but I now realize that I should have NOT bought the Neon. My parents insisted we purchase the Carmax care for $1,500, so that brought the car price up to $13,500. Since I'm in Illinois, sales tax was like $1,000, compared to about half of that if I bought the car in Indiana.

So I made the mistake of thinking APR was just a 7% additional to the total price of the car. I thought fine, 12,000 car, I pay 7% which is like $900. But no, it's 7%/year. I don't know how my parents missed this.

I could have gotten a brand new car for like $15,500 (08 Civic?) with a 0% APR and the exact same monthly payment. Instead I have an 05 Neon with 16,000 miles.

This sucks.
I was in a similar situation. By coincidence, I went up to the mountains to take pictures of my new car and I mistakenly forgot to put the parking brake on. I set the world record for car flips that day.

never buy an extra warranty.EVER, with anything. look it up on the net.
That is a totally inaccurate thing to say... if I thought like you I would be out a good amount of money.

A few months back I took my Dodge Ram into the dealer with about 50K miles on it because I had a bit of shaking in my front end and knew it wasnt due to tire balance. I got a call the next morning and they told me that the entire rack, both complete upper control arms and a few other parts needed to be replaced and got an alignment to boot. And you know it only cost me $100 and I had a rental car that they paid for for 5 days. I purchased the chrysler 5-100 gold warranty for $1200 back in '04 when I bought my truck. It would have cost me twice that had I not had the warranty.

I purchased a new 1080P Westinghouse LCD 42" monitor over a year ago and at the time purchased a 3 year warranty through Conn's. At 15 months the screen started to develop lines on either side of the screen where the non-stretched out channels are black. They didnt go away with adjustments. Factory warranty(if it was still in warranty that is)would have required me to ship the whole thing back to Cali to have it fixed and been without a TV for who knows how long. Conn's sent a tech out, he determined it needed a new screen, came back out a few days later and put it in... at no cost to me and also told me that when it does it again, they will replace it again. Normally the screen replacement would cost me about half what I paid for the TV - $800. I paid $250 for the warranty. Still have over a year and a half left on warranty so it can be done again if need be.

I bought a new Gateway laptop about 4 years ago, paid for a warranty(it also covered hazards)on it because I am pretty hard on them. Cost me about $200 or so, never used it... so it was a waste. In this case as with most computers in general its probly not a good idea to get a warranty for it since they loose value so rapidly anyway. But for a couple hundred it gave me piece of mind knowing that if I wanted to chunk it across the room and the screen broke, it would be fixed.

Point is you just need to know what your buying a warranty for, know what the failure rate is vs. the normal cost of replacement... and most important... dont always believe everything you read on the internet.
