Default ABS Question

I have a 2000 Dodge Neon ES. I was wondering if my car has abs. I think it doesn't.

I believe if you have it the "ABS" will come on when you start your car up. If it doesn't then you don't have it. I don't have ABS.

Easiest way to check. Open up the PDC (Power Distribution Module) in the engine bay and look at all the relays. There is a chart on the cover that tells you what each relay is. If you don't see the relays that are labeled ABS then you don't have it.

Why did dodge make new neon's without...

1. ABS Standard
2. Power Windows in the Back
3. No ability to turn fog lights on whenever you want

Just some things that have been on my mind. It seems ridiculous to have a car made for the 2004 not have these type of options standard.

Because, ABS is an option. It was discovered that ABS also sometimes causes problems, so DCx decided to make it an option. I prefer not having ABS or Cruise Control.

Dunno why power windows were not put in the back of them. I've often wondered why myself.

Having the Fog lights on with the head lights off is actualyl illegal in some states.

my stratus has no ABS, and my uncle (the dealer who leased it to us) says they sell more without it than with.

what i've heard is that most people have learned to drive without ABS so when they slam on the breaks they pump them instead of letting the ABS do it so it ends up hurting more than its helping..... so i think thats why more cars are sold without ABS.

ABS can have more mechaincal problems than with regular breaks. Also having ABS is more expensive for the manufacturer when building the car.
