Default Underdrive pulley

What exactly is a new MPx Underdrive pulley going to do for my car? I have a 97 automatic SOHC neon. I ordered an Iceman cold air intake and i was wondering if i should also get the underdrive pulley but is it worth it?

it is reducing a few things, first the rotating mass of the balancer thingy, second it's spinning the acc.'s less making them pull less from the engine, causing the free up of about 5-10 hp

I was wondering the same thing. What kind of power gain am i going to get with the Iceman along with the underdrive pulley? And am i going to be able to feel a difference with the two items installed?

You will feel the iceman more than the underdrive, plus the CAI sounds awesome. The CAI will give you maybe 5HP alone the underdrive maybe 1-2 on a stock motor. But as you add other perfoirmance upgrades those numbers will go up with the other upgrades.

You aren't guaranteed 5-10 HP at the crank. You are guaranteed 5-10 hp across the power band. You don't actually gain anything it just frees up some HP that was lost to the accesories. Personally, I'd get the UDP over the CAI, having something sound cool doesn't make you any faster. You net about the same gains as with the CAI anyway, its just high-end power with the CAI at least with the UDP you gain somethign across the deck (so-to speak).

You could do that, but you really need to do what you want. We are only here to givve you input. It's not like any of us are holding a gun to your head.

I thought that a CAI was supposed to add like 5% HP, or free up 5% I suppose. Meaning that on a 132hp engine you should get around 20HP, but then again.. everyone tell's me that a CAI only add's 5 - 15 HP. So I dunno, just thought I'd add that info, I got the 5% thing from a performance part's site listed on DF.

The underdrive pulley was the first thing I put on my car and I didn't feel a difference. It will mainly help you in the long run.
