Hello Everyone

I am new to this forum. I am visiting my in laws away from my home which is like 1500 kms away from my home town using my Dodge Neon 2000 Automatic Trans. Problem is: The reverse gear isnt working properly. IT sits there, wheels dont roll. If you put full pressure, it works a lil bit and sometimes it just works fine, most of the time, it wont! What might be the problem? THe milage is 170,000 kms. btw, the other gears are working just fine! no problems with them.

Please help!! I am kinda stuck here,

How is your trans fluid level? When was the last time you pulled the atx pan off and installed a new filter? Also, wipe the magnet clean when you pull the pan.

 

go to the dealership and get the transmission computer reprogrammed, the computer is problably not sending a right signal to the tranny to let the gear fully engage thats what happened to me. i was shifting hard at sometimes and when going to 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. i shifted so hard before i got it reprogrammed that i actually screeched my tires when i got to second. 1st and rev are the same gear but its the comp that tells it what to do.

 

I have a 2000 dodge neon and i am having the simular problem except none of the gears work if i put it in drive and i hit the gas it will roll forward a little bit maybe a couple of inches do you think that it could be my filter as well
