Easiest thing for HP...
Well, how about NITROUS?
Without headwork the other stuff (Header, Intake, Cam etc....) will give you marginal results. If you know a good place to get your heads done then thats a start for cams etc. Problem with cams is the ports on the heads are already flowed and cam sized accordingly by the factory. Most aftermarket mods will make a few HP(some even lose HP) but typically give up bottom end and midrange. Seen it proven on the dyno proven numerous times. The biggest thing to build real reliable HP is to first do headwork and then cams, intake, exhaust , etc...
NOS will probably be very hard on the engine but give the most bang for the BUCK! Always. JUST BE VERY CAREFUL. Probably no more tan a wet 50 shot.

actually your engine can take any where from 50 to 100 shot on stock internals. But I will stress that if you mean for this car to be anything you should provide a foundation that you can build on. Besides that 50 shot only lasts until your tank is dry. Start with the intake, exhaust, cam, springs, and if you can afford it get the head work done. Neon has a good one but there is definatley room for improvement.

nitrous is just about pointless, unless you're racing for money or have cash to burn, because you spend the money to fill the tank and all that, and then you have like 5 seconds of fast. I would consider it a very late-stage mod. Further, it stresses the internals and will undoubtedly reduce the life of your engine. Not a 'worth it' mod, in my opinion.

Figure out where you wan to end up with the car, and how much you are willing to spend and work from there. You can put full exhuast and an intake for about $600-700. You can have a 11 second neon for about 10,000. It all depends on how far you want to go and what you want to spend.
