Default brake trouble

I replaced the front right brake caliper, rotor, and pads, and now the car squeals worse than before and the brake light has been on since. Anyone have any pointers?

FROM WHAT I KNOW IT COULD BE LIKE THAT FOR A COUPLE OF TIMES U DO USE IT.... THE PADS ANDROTOR NEED TO GRIND INTO EACHOTHER TO GROOVE ITSELF.... IF THERE WAS A OILY SUBSTANCE ON THE BRAKES HOPEFULLY U CLEANED IT OFF WITH BRAKE CLEANER OR CARBUREATOR CLEANER.... IF IT DOESN'T STOP THEN MAYB YOUR CALIPER FROZE UP???

as for the brake light, you need to re-bleed it. there is air in there.
as far as the squeeling, you have to clean the rotors off with brake cleaner or some type of degreaser and let it dry before you install or you will get noise. rotors are greased before packing so they dont rust in storage.

similar topic so i thought i would post up in here too. i replaced both my fron rotors about a month ago and have semi-metallic pads installed. i didnt clean the oil off the rotors i figured they would burn the oil off after a while. anyways, im getting a squealing noise from my fron drivers side but only after ive been driving for a while and the brakes are hot. its a steady squealing noise cuz i dont think i have abs. any suggestions?? brakes were bled properly, pins and bolts lubricated, no warpage on the rotors. im stumped. maybe just some cheap*** pads or something??

inthewerks, did you put syl-glide or similar moly based lube behind the pads?

also, i have had issues with semi metalic brakes squealing towards the end of the stop. i just lived with it and then bought the cheaper crap pads next timeand they didnt squeal.

one more thing, you should replace pads and other brake hardware in pairs.

yeah i put that brake lube stuff on the pads. the only thing i can think of is the pads just suck. they are those duralast brand semi metallic from autozone. who makes good pads??

i definately agree with bone. even if only one rotor is warped or whatever, and you just change the one, the other side has to work harder to compensate then BOOM you blew a brake line or seal in your master cylinder or something. ALWAYS REPLACE IN PAIRS on your brake system.

i get all my parts from NAPA. i know they are more expensive, but i think that the service you get is worth it. the last set i bought were $50-60 not sure, but they were top of the line. you can get a set of cheapos from NAPA for $16 though and they work good too, just wont last more than 15-20k miles with an auto, now if yo have a stick they will last twice that, then i would use them. (cheap ones) before you go replacing everything, take off your wheels and just shoot brake cleaner all over everything, take it for a test drive and see.
